In this video I give a quick break down of some of the key features and differences between VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5 and VMware vCenter 6.5. I also give a quick demonstration of what it looks like when both ESXi and the vCenter Server Appliance are fully booted and sitting at the console screen. Lastly, I demo vSphere ESXi 6.5's Web UI along with both the flash based and HTML 5 based vCenter Web UI's. By the end of the video you should have a basic idea of what VMware vSphere ESXi and vCenter are, how they look and are managed from an end user perspective and also when to bring vCenter into your environment. Welcome to Network Engineer Pro. I'm Rafael, CCIE 64356. Have you ever wanted to build your own virtualization server so you can studying for certs like the CCNA, CCNP and CCIE? Or easily run CML, GNS, EVE-NG, Automation, CSR1000v and more? If so then check out part 1 of my journey to build a virtualization beast for network engineers, it's easy and I want to show you all the steps in the process. Routing TCP/IP, Volume 1 ➤ 🤍 Routing TCP/IP, Volume 2 ➤ 🤍 - 00:00 Intro 01:47 Server overview/tour 05:09 iDrac7 Configuration 07:38 iDRAC GUI Login and overview 09:04 Access the virtual console 09:58 Configure storage in RAID-5 14:33 Outro In today's video which is part 1 of 3, I am taking my new to me, Dell PowerEdge R620 and prepping it for an ESXi 6.7 installation. The end goal is to turn this server into a virtualization beast for network engineers to handle CML, GNS, EVE-NG, Automation, CSR1000v and more. I want to show you all the steps in the process. This is a 3 part mini series. Part 1 (this video) includes IDRAC7 configuration and Raid setup. Part 2 is downloading and installing ESXi 6.7 🤍 Part 3 is creating a VM and installing EVE-NG Community Edition. 🤍 How to import Cisco Modeling Labs (CML) IOSv Router & Switch images into EVE-NG 🤍 I start by configuring the servers IDRAC7 port. Once the server is reachable on my network I configure my four 600GB hard drives in a Raid 5. This allows me to tolerate a single hard drive failure. So let me tell you why I am building this server. The reason I got this server is because I'm a network engineer, I'm constantly testing and labbing things out for work, studying for certifications or i just straight up forgot how something works so i go an lab it out. I use a combination of csr1000v's, cisco modeling labs, eve-ng and all kinds of other things. I was running all those on VMware workstation player, which is a type 2 hypervisor installed on my windows 10 pc. That windows 10 pc is also used for video editing, photoshop and gaming and it was just starting to be too much for it and i was running out of resources. So I wanted to get something dedicated just for networking and labbing purposes that I don't have to worry about running out of resources for hopefully a long time. #CCNA #CCNP #CCIE

Using only a few steps, you can import an ESXi base image, import your custom driver bundles, and then merge the two together using Auto Deploy to then export your image out to an ISO that you can use to install ESXi on your lab or other hardware. How to Backup and Restore VMware ESXI Host Configuration Having healthy ESXi hosts is a key to success when running virtual machines. That’s why it is better to back up ESXi configuration. Thus, if something goes wrong with an ESXi host, its configuration can be restored in a few minutes without spending a lot of time to configure an ESXi server from scratch. The backup procedure is: 1. Connect to ESXi host via SSH. 2. Run the command below: vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/sync_config This command is to make sure that all the changes of configuration would be saved to the target file. 3. Run the command below: vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/backup_config This command is to generate the link to download the file containing the host configuration. It is like http://*/downloads/123456/configBundle-xx.xx.xx.xx.tgz. You need to be aware that the "*" is the IP or FQDN of the host so you should manually replace it. 4. Open a web browser and copy and paste the link into it. Type Enter. The backup file would be downloaded then. It could be found in the folder Download whose name contains "configBundle" and host FQDN. That's the way to export ESXi configuration. To decrypt encrypted state.tgz , run the command: crypto-util envelope extract aad ESXConfiguration local.tgz.ve local.tgz The restore procedure is: 1. Rename the backup file into "configBundle.tgz". 2. Run the command below: vim-cmd hostsvc/maintenance_mode_enter This command is to put the ESXi host into maintenance mode 3. Copy the backup file to ESXi host 4. Run the command below: vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/restore_config /backup_location/configBundle.tgz You should replace "/backup_location" with the actual directory. 🌸 Support channel & make donation : 🤍 🌸 Subscribe for more videos : Youtube: 🤍 🌸 Follow me On Social Media Facebook : 🤍 * 🌸 How To Check Bad Blocks Or Bad Sectors On a Hard Disk In Linux 🤍 🌸 Linux How To Partition a Hard Drive Using the Parted Command 🤍 🌸 Checking or Repairing a File System using fsck in Linux 🤍 🌸 How To Monitor the Health of Your Hard Drive in Linux using SMART 🤍 🌸 Linux iotop: Monitor your disk Input/Output 🤍 🌸 How To use the “du” (Disk Usage) Command in Linux 🤍 🌸 How To View Manipulate System Logs In Linux Using Journalctl Command 🤍 🌸 How To Sync And Backup Files In Linux Using Rsync Command 🤍 🌸 Linux cURL Command Tips and Tricks 🤍 🌸 Linux tail and multitail commands 🤍 🌸 Linux How To view Log Files 🤍 🌸 How To use the History Command On Linux 🤍 🌸 Tips and Tricks How To manipulate Text Files on Linux 🤍 🌸 How to Archive, Compress and Extract Files Using the tar Command on Linux 🤍 🌸 Linux - How to split larger files into smaller parts 🤍 🌸 Linux commands : Top 🤍 * #ESXI #VMware #Backup
