During the defense of Leningrad a well laid trap resulted in a spectacular victory with just 1 tank taking out 22 German Tanks and 2 Anti-tank guns. Zinoviy Kolobanov commanded his KV-1 to deal a crushing blow to the invaders. In total, in and around "Tank Alley" 5 Russian KV-1s destroyed 43 tanks. That is exactly what the KV-1E is. It's probably the closest thing the tech tree has to the American M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo. The KV-1 L-11 is a Russian Heavy Tank in War Thunder. The KV-1 is an iconic vehicle from WW2 that can take a heavy amount of punishment even from much more powerful guns. The KV-1 is pure Stalinium. The KV-1 is the earliest version of the KV series tanks in War Thunder. As such it's equipped with a mediocre gun compared to other cannons in the Russian Tech Tree. However, if you learn enemy weak spots... it's more than good enough. The KV1 L11 doesn't need to depend on its gun, though. The KV-1 is a heavy tank like no other. The armour is 75mm all around even on the sides meaning if you're angled there is literally nothing at this BR that will reliably penetrate your armour. Not only is it made of Stalinium the armour overlaps making it even stronger and the tank is also faster than most Medium Tanks are it this Battle Rating. Overall, the KV-1 L-11 is super fun to play. The KV-1 is one of the most iconic tanks in Soviet World War II history. The joint project of The Historical and Cultural Complex Stalin Line and Wargaming has been dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Zinoviy Kolobanov’s heroic stand. In November 2015, fragments of the legendary machine were discovered and salvaged from a bog. The Kliment Voroshilov (KV) tanks were a series of Soviet heavy tanks named after the Soviet defense commissar and politician Kliment Voroshilov and used by the Red Army during World War II. The KV series were known for their heavy armour protection during the early part of the war, especially during the first year of the German invasion of the Soviet Union. In certain situations, even a single KV-1 or KV-2 supported by infantry was capable of halting the enemy's onslaught. German tanks at that time were rarely used in KV encounters as their armament was too poor to deal with the "Russischer Koloss" - "Russian Colossus". The KV tanks were practically immune to the 3.7 cm KwK 36 and howitzer-like, short barreled 7.5 cm KwK 37 guns mounted, respectively, on the early Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks fielded by the invading German forces. Until more effective guns were developed by the Germans, the KV-1 was invulnerable to almost any German weapon except the 8.8 cm Flak gun. Even then, in a speech to the Panzerkommission on 18 November 1941, Guderian stated that "the sloped armor causes hits from the 8.8 cm Flak gun to ricochet" referring to the KV-1. Prior to Operation Barbarossa (the German invasion of the USSR), about 500 of the over 22,000 tanks then in Soviet service were of the KV-1 type. When the KV-1 appeared, it outclassed the French Char B1, the only other heavy tank in operational service in the world at that time. Yet, in the end, it turned out that there was little sense in producing the expensive KV tanks, as the T-34 medium tank performed better (or at least equally well) in all practical respects. In fact the only advantage it had over the T-34-76 was its larger and roomier three-man turret. Later in the war, the KV series became a base for the development of the IS (Iosif Stalin) series of tanks.

The exposed turret ring on this variant resulted in a wide rear turret overhang and a higher profile. The KV-1S in War Thunder is not like your normal KV1 heavy tank. It's pretty quick off the mark, has a decent top speed and decent reverse. The S in KV1S doesn't really stand for Sport, but it may as well. It's like a normal KV-1 that hit the gym to do some cardio and came back a few tonnes lighter. This tank is a serious masterclass in learning how to angle, engage and disengage in a fire fight but once you perfect it, it's a pain to damage it at medium to long range.
